Madrid 2

...I'm listening to Ella and looking at the pictures of the day...
...the "wife" just got back from all her business meetings, she is lying on my bed, eating almonds  (amonds!), watching President Obama on CNN with the volume "off"...

...I have been walking all day, thinking that the shoes that I had on, were bought three years ago from Barcelona and now they're back again in their country of origin...I guess they will always find their way back home...

...this is Plaza de la Puerta del Sol...
...where the Madrilenos celebrate their New Year's Eve...

...under las campanadas they pop 12 grapes in their mouth, after each chime...

...at the same plaza the most famous  lit billboard of Tio Pepe...

* * * *

...San Miguel's market...

...a gourmet market with all kinds of delicacies for the very discerning customers...

* * * *

....this is Plaza Mayor where bull fights, executions, fairs, celebrations have taken place over the years...

...to buy a one bedroom apartment you pay about 600.000E and just to rent 1.500E per month....

...beautiful streets and buildings of the city...

...the symbol of Madrid "the bear and the strawberry tree"...

* * * *
...oh!  I have to tell you about this building...
...this is the oldest club exclusively for men...
...some distinctive business men and politicians visit it daily, while their body guards and black luxurious cars wait outside, along with some paparazzi...

...hmmm....

....this happens to be the house where Cervantes lived...
...back then this neighborhood was filled with bars, brothels and people who wanted to hide from the law...

...now it's a beautiful neighborhood where artists, writers and painters live...

* * * *

....and last, this is the door to Lope de Vega's house...

...it says in latin, "Parva propria magna, magna aliena parva", meaning
"Small but mine big
Big but someone else's small"...

...buenas noches....I'm off for some wine!
