Atenas en la lluvia....

...It was a rainy day...

...I don't usually go down to the center of Athens...

...I'm quite comfortable in my own zip code, as the "wife" says, but when I do, I enjoy it so much because there's a strong encounter with history...Athens has kept its identity and its colours over the years, that no matter where you are you see the past drawn all over...

...these are our national library and the old university...

...the buildings have kept their outside appearance as it was 40 or 50 years ago, although the interior has been renovated...

...I don't know how many Athenians have looked up on Panepistimiou street and noticed these balconies...

...it was the perfect day for a cup of hot chocolate or tea...

...I felt like a tourist with the camera in my hand, taking pictures!

...I took refuge in here for a while, because this is the place where a lot of book stores are located...

....under the dome and Athena's watchful eye...

...most of the stores down town have a long history of maybe 100 years...

...each one has a story to tell, especially the buildings that were occupied by the Germans during the war...

...this sweet gentleman, is a shoe store owner since the early 60's...

...slowly...Christmas windows are popping up here and there, and that reminds me that I have to start baking my gingerbread houses, the first orders have already been placed...

...so I need to get into the spirit A.S.A.P.

... and while I was in the metro, I had the pleasure of meeting a lady from Serbia....she was a seamstress, who came to Greece during the war...she learned Greek, and now is learning Italian...her knowledge  in literature, she spoke of Shakespeare, her culture, her manners, her appreciation in art, impressed me so much...

...no matter the bad weather I had a wonderful day!
