Os quiero mis brujitas!

...Halloween....Halloween...

...today, the best place to be at, was my kitchen...

....food and sweets were cooked and baked, the sun was shining, lots of laughs and love...

...I have to mention, though, that here in Athens we were celebrating the 2.500 years of the Marathon...

...I'm ashamed to say that this is as far as I came to watching the event...

...I'm sure it was wonderful...we had many participants...the weather was perfect, too...

...I was having too much of a good time with the cousin and the wife, that time went by so fast, and we didn't realize that it was too late to walk down the road and watch the runners go by... believe me I had all the good intentions...

...I want to send warm thoughts and feelings to a "brujita", to tell her that she's on my mind and that whenever I think of her she's a warm ray of sunshine...

...I wish you all a wonderful and creative week...

Hola!

...my little pleasures of today....

...this funny little creature who is ruling our house...who has the shortest memory when it comes to food...who always finds the best spots in the house to sleep...

...and diabetic baklava from Constantinople, fresh, delicious, YUMMY!  (there's a God after all!)...

...outside is raining, we're expecting a storm...
...many things to do around the house...and many exciting things that are coming ahead...
....shhh!  in a while I'll let you in!

kiss-kiss!

Nena yo...

...let me start from the beginning...
...my dad had 7 brothers and sisters...
...he was the baby of the family...
....his siblings had one to three children each, or none..

...my dad had two...I happened to be the last one, and of course the baby of the family...
..I have 10 first cousins from my dad's side, who some of them are now great grandparents, and I, on the other hand,  have a 16 year old child...

****

...this morning I was invited by my first cousin Anetta who has 3 grandchildren and one of her daughters is a year older than me... in my mind, though, our age difference doesn't exist...

...we were together for many hours, having coffee, looking at pictures, remembering things from the past...
...the comfort that I felt was so familiar to me...

...I'm so grateful to her for reminding me so much of my mom...
...for taking me in her arms and treating me as if I'm one of hers...

...she made a big pot of coffee, brought out special cookies and cheese from the island, and we talked and talked and talked...
...as I was leaving I asked her if she wanted to adopt me (!!!)...

...I have missed my mother so much...
...her Sunday lunches, her afternoon teas, her gatherings...

...sometimes, us moms need to have someone to nourish us and give us comfort...
...a little boost, to carry on...

Bailes regionales

...happy Saturday...

...looking forward to the weekend....and looking forward to the week that's following...
...I was so happy to find my book that just arrived..how many of you are familiar with Ingrid Betancourt's story? .....held hostage for 6 years in the colombian jungle by rebels...
...I heard her saying, that she considers a luxury the fact of having the choice to decide whether to cook or take a shower...

...this weekend I want to do absolutely nothing...just relax and enjoy...

****

...I'm in the process of baking pumpkin bread...

...some ginger cookies are also on the way!

****

...enjoy your small pleasures...

E n o j a d a.....

...I started writing a composition in Spanish on what affect advertising has over young people  when I realized how angry I feel...angry not towards the advertising industry but angry towards many little things...

...I'm angry at myself for being angry...for poisoning me and making me ill.  I don't feel nice..As Benjamin Franklin said, "whatever is begun in anger ends in shame"...

...I'm angry for not nurturing me, for not forgiving me...
...Angry for letting thoughts take over logic...

...Angry, angry, angry...

...Angry for not being able to remember what I have learned...for burning the food...for missing a deadline...for scattering me...angry for forgetting to trust me...

....and why all this...for what???

...it's time to sit back...inhale exhale...and just listen to my inner music...

...for now just bare with me...
